Think about this shit.

This is the third time the bill has failed, following defeats in 2010 and 2012.
The Paycheck Fairness Act would require employers to disclose payment and demographic information and prevent them from punishing workers who discuss their salaries. It would also allow civil pay discrimination lawsuits to be filed against employers.
Republicans opposed the bill, arguing it would encourage “frivolous” lawsuits and deprive women of workplace flexibility.- MSNBC

Someone mentioned this in my gov class and the teacher didn’t believe it.

The backlog of rape kits has put justice on hold for a lot of people. Back in 2009, more than 11,000 untested kits were found in a Detroit Police Department storage facility. Some were more than 25 years old.

Mariska Hargitay speaks on some of the issues surrounding the rape kit backlog in Detroit, Michigan. #endthebacklog (x)

It costs between $1,000 – $1,500 to test every single rape kit. There are over 10,000 kits left in Detroit’s rape kit backlog. Your donation can go directly to testing them. Donate to the Detroit Crime Commission’s backlog initiative by clicking here.

I am pretty explicitly anti-police in every respect. But I support Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy and her push to catalogue the egregious backlog of unprocessed rape kits in Detroit.

Her work has already identified countless serial rapists in southeast Michigan, and will continue to identify these rapist pieces of shit as she moves forward.

Who cares if this process leads to conviction or not. Just give us the list. We can take care of the rest.

"After Detroit tested the first 10% of its backlogged kits, authorities were able to link cases to 46 serial rapists." (x)

Just think about it: 46 serial rapists. And the evidence against them was out there, all the time, in those backlogged kits. And that’s just 10% of them

ya’ll remember the whole petition about net neutrality? yeah. it’s dead.

We’re really, really fucking this up.
But we can fix it, I swear. We just have to start telling each other the truth. Not the doublespeak bullshit of regulators and lobbyists, but the actual truth. Once we have the truth, we have the power — the power to demand better not only from our government, but from the companies that serve us as well. “This is a political fight,” says Craig Aaron, president of the advocacy group Free Press. “When the internet speaks with a unified voice politicians rip their hair out.”
We can do it. Let’s start.

please please PLEASE HELP RESTORE THE INTERNET!! THE WAR IS ONLY STARTING BUT WE CAN DO THIS. WE ARE THE INTERNET. WE CAN WIN!

Oh for God’s sakes, take the two seconds to sign the damn thing. Every single one of you knows that if you didn’t have the same level of Internet access that you have right now, you would lose your mind. Think about how much time you spend on here. Think about what you do. You’ve gotten used to being able to communicate with people who are hundreds or thousands of miles away from you. You’ve gotten used to doing your coursework online and e-mailing your professors and applying for jobs and ordering food and arguing about Sailor Moon. You need to try and save it.

so what can you do to help, basically? well for one you can sign this petition congresswoman chellie pingree put out, which would stop the comcast/time warner cable companies from merging and basically stopping services like netflix and hulu, blocking certain sights and having a very very BAD effect on the internet + net neutrality.
you can also help by signal boosting this post and signing it also.
a very very good thing you can do that would benefit would to either call or email this man right here shown in the picture above, telling him to restore net neutrality. telling him to help make the internet for the people, and not for the companies to control.
thank you for taking time out of your day to help this!!!

Watching kev play his NES thiS past weekend has made me miss mine. We found some old roms and relived some happy moments.

I got nostalgic about dragon warrior (aka dragon quest I). Forgot there were separate commands for doors & stairs, not too mentioned I had to speak to the king each time to save. o.0

Finished sketchcards from today’s International Tabletop Day/Illustrators Day at Cups Coffeehouse in Clinton, MS.
Brush pen & copic multiliners, colored with copic sketch markers.

Sad I was too busy drawing to play. Maybe next time…

Had a great time at Cups in Clinton for illustrators/intn’l tabletop day! Not much traffic art-wise, but it was fun.

Here, have grumpy cat art. with Kevin – View on Path.

Re HOBBY LOBBY

kellysue:

This is a false debate. If I pay my employee and she then buys groceries, I am not buying her groceries for her. I don’t get to go through her groceries and decide whether or not I approve of what she’s buying. I am paying the salary that she has earned. The same applies to benefits. Healthcare is part of a wage package.

What’s on display, is the arrogance of the employer who believes the the worker’s money is really his own: ie ‘she can get an IUD, but I’m not paying for it.’
